I Won – Now What???

I’m still not sure it happened or how it happened. Going down the rabbit hole. Not in Kansas any more. Still awake.

I came in 6th out of 7 winning males, with only 4 more votes than 8th place. There were 129 ballots voting for 9 women and 12 men.

Thanks to everyone I know and everyone I don’t know who voted for me, and everyone who encouraged me. I will try to live up to your expectations.

So, now what? Go home and wait? Read all the messages of congratulations. Join new Facebook / messenger groups. Search for answers on Google?

How do I go from being an ostentatious protester, a “community organizer”, and an volunteer/advocate for the homeless, to a functioning member of the California Democratic State Central Committee (DSCC)?
Is it a metamorphosis or a simpler transition? I know I have to be myself, but who am I now? I have a new aspect.

OK, it’s no big deal. I did this because it’s the least powerful position I could run for. It should be easy. I’m just one of 3,000 delegates.
One day at a time. Pet the cat. Feed the squirrels, take out the trash. Don’t worry about it except in my dreams.
It’s going to be fun! I will make the best of it. After a little while it will be just one more responsibility to take care of.

Mirvette Judeh, our district E-Board member, plans to have an informal get-together for us 14 delegates next month. I look forward to it. I need to get to know more of the other delegates.

What are my duties? What are the committees I can be on, and what is their purpose?
When do we do endorsements? How tough will that be?
I went to “ADEM 101”, but mostly learned about what it feels like to be a delegate, but the duties are still fuzzy.

And I have to start planning to go to this in 18 weeks:

2019 California Democratic Party State Convention, May 31 – June 2, 2019

Parc 55 San Francisco Hilton Hotel – 55 Cyril Magnin St., San Francisco, CA 94102
