Here is my candidate statement.
I am ready to carry my support of progressive values into participation as an Assembly District Delegate for AD-65.
I have been active in many ways, mostly with Indivisible CA 39 and with “Housing is a Human Right OC”, and I operate web sites for both of them. I have helped in my own way with the OC Women’s marches, March for our Lives, March on the NRA Southern California, demonstrations against separation of families, many protests and officevisits at Royce’s Brea office, advocating for the homeless at OC Board of Supervisor meetings and Fullerton City Council meetings, demonstrating in support of DACA/refugees/immigrants, the Cisneros campaign, opposition to the recall of Newman, and so on. I support health-care for all. I support diversity and inclusion in government. I support marriage equality and LGBTQ rights.
I regularly attend meetings of the Fullerton Collaborative and their Homelessness Subcommittee. I organize members of my church to volunteer weekly at the Fullerton Armory homeless shelter, and we have volunteered at the “Bridges at Kraemer Place” shelter. I am the I.T. guy for “CareerWise” in Fullerton, which helps homeless people find jobs.
Those activities reflect the values that I believe are shared with many people in North Orange County today.
Frankly, I was disappointed in the Democratic party in the 2018 primary. There was obvious conflict between the DCCC and the CADem, and some dissension in the ranks spilling over after June 6. With so much at stake, we cannot afford a repeat of this, or of 2016, in the 2020 elections. The presidential primary in California will have national influence. We need to deal with the jungle primary danger of vote-splitting for state and local elections. This was my initial motivation to seek election as an Assembly District Delegate. It is necessary to solve these problems in order win in 2020.
I have voted as a Democrat in Fullerton since moving here in 2000.
I will be able to attend the meetings and conventions required, and able to fulfill the duties of a delegate.
I believe that showing up is 80% of success! So I will show up.
Please give me the opportunity to serve progressive values as a delegate in AD 65.

My original candidate statement, as it appears on the CADem web site had a double typo, corrected here: 55 should be 65. Changing statements after they are submitted is not allowed, so the typo remains.
